Biography

Teachers act as pillars of the society. Their role in influencing and shaping the minds of students will ultimately lead to the betterment of the society. In my current academic position and my past experience as a research scientist in the diagnostic industry, I have acquired extensive college teaching experience and scientific research experience in the biotechnology industry with a flair for use of modern technology. As a member of the Curriculum committee for the last 6 years and as Chairperson of the Curriculum committee, for the last year and a half, I have also gained experience in curriculum design and management, particularly due to my tenure through a period of accreditation visit and changes in accreditation requirements. I have been involved in teaching, coordination and design of undergraduate and graduate level courses in Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular & Cell Biology and the corresponding and laboratory courses. As a researcher, my interests are scientific contributions/progress in a number of different areas in biological sciences including antimicrobial resistance, host-pathogen interactions, microbial genetics, signal transduction and molecular biology of prokaryotes. Over the years, I have also acquired research experience with a variety of biological and experimental procedures, modern molecular biology tools and the use of cutting edge technology in genomics, proteomics, expression studies and imaging, along with traditional genetic engineering techniques. I also have experience in assay design and development. In my current position, I have been involved with curricular planning, development, and assessment along with teaching. My faculty development activities are focused on curriculum development research and training, enhancing student performance and learning through asking questions and answering them; development of ability-based education, enhancing active and collaborative learning, improving student motivation, and betterment of instructional methodologies and curricular models. As a faculty of Touro college of Pharmacy, I hope to contribute to the fostering of the future generation’s path forward by inspiring knowledge in the minds of students and helping them to tap their inner ability to think.
